Prehistory

The official archaeological excavations undertaken in the 70s by the Institut du Quartenaire of Bordeaux (managed by Henri Laville) revealed very important deposits relative to the industry of the Mousterian period

The deposits of Tourtoirac have outside of this, a complete picture of prehistoric industry from the Mousterian period(~45000), the Solutrean (~25000) up to the paleolithic (~5000).
